How to use the Tallow Cream
How to use the Tallow Cream
The first time someone uses a tallow-based moisturizer, they almost always pause. It feels different. Richer. More real. And then the question comes: am I using this right?
After years of water-based serums and lightweight lotions, a moisturizer that actually nourishes can feel unfamiliar. So this is your guide. How much to use, when to apply it, how to adjust for your skin, and how to get everything the Tallow Cream is capable of giving you.
Less than you think
This is the part that surprises people most.
The Tallow Cream is concentrated. It is built around ingredients that work with your skin's biology rather than sitting on top of it, and that means a little goes a long way. For most people, a pea-sized amount covers the entire face. Maybe slightly more if you are applying to the neck and décolletage as well.
If your skin feels heavy or greasy after applying, you are probably using too much. Dial it back. Let your skin tell you what it actually needs.
Apply to damp skin
This is the single most important tip for getting the most out of any facial oil or rich moisturizer, and it absolutely applies here.
After cleansing, pat your skin lightly so it is damp but not dripping. Then apply the Tallow Cream immediately while that moisture is still on your skin. The cream helps seal that hydration in and works with it rather than trying to replace it.
If you apply to completely dry skin, you may find you need more product and get less of the nourishing effect. Damp skin is the move.
How to apply it
Warm a small amount between your fingertips for a few seconds before it goes on your face. This makes it easier to spread and helps it absorb more evenly.
Press it into your skin rather than rubbing it in. Start at the center of your face and work outward. Take a moment with it. This is not a step to rush through.
Give it 60 seconds before you move on to anything else. Your skin will absorb it faster than you expect.
Building your routine around it
Morning: Apply after cleansing while skin is still damp. The Tallow Cream layers well under makeup and creates a smooth base.
Evening: This is where it shines. Apply as the last step of your routine after any serums or treatments. Damp skin, warm the cream, press it in, and let your skin do its work overnight.
Body: You can absolutely use the Tallow Cream anywhere that needs extra attention. Dry elbows, cuticles, areas of rough texture. It is not just a face product.
Adjusting for your skin type
Dry or very dry skin: You can be generous here. Damp skin, a slightly larger amount, and do not be afraid to layer it over a hydrating serum in the evening.
Normal to combination skin: Stick to a pea-sized amount on damp skin. Focus on drier areas and use a lighter touch on the T-zone if needed.
Oily or acne-prone skin: Start small. Really small. A rice-sized amount on damp skin, applied only to the areas that need it. Tallow is biocompatible with human skin and is not inherently pore-clogging, but your skin still needs time to adjust to a richer formula if it is used to gel moisturizers or nothing at all. Give it two to three weeks before you decide.
Sensitive skin: The Tallow Cream tends to do well with sensitive skin because of how it interacts with the skin barrier. Apply to damp skin, keep the amount small at first, and introduce it as an evening-only product while your skin gets familiar with it.
A note on scent
The Tallow Cream comes in three versions so you can find the one that fits your routine.
Rouge Mahogany is warm and grounding, built around rich woods and a soft sensual depth. It is the one for anyone who wants their skincare to feel like a full sensory moment.
Lavender opens with gooey marshmallow, settles into fresh lavender, and dries down to vanilla bean, tonka, and musk. It is softer and sweeter than a classic lavender, more bedtime ritual.
Unscented is exactly what it sounds like. No fragrance, no essential oils. Just the formula, clean and simple. A good choice if you have fragrance sensitivity or prefer to layer your own scent on top.
What to expect over time
The first few days, your skin may feel more nourished than it has in a while. That is normal. After two to three weeks of consistent use, most people notice that their skin holds moisture better throughout the day, texture starts to smooth out, and the tight or reactive feeling that comes with a compromised barrier starts to settle.
This is not a product that makes promises overnight. It is one that builds something long lasting.
Use it consistently. Use it on damp skin. Use less than you think you need.
That is the whole ritual.
